BizWiz

Our
Story
Get to Know BizWiz
BizWiz is a program founded by high school student Andy to give young students early, accessible exposure to the world of business. Inspired by his own late introduction to business through a high school elective and case competitions, Andy created BizWiz to close the awareness and access gap many students face. Through workshops, events, and case competition-style challenges, BizWiz teaches essential skills in entrepreneurship, strategy, consulting, and communication, helping beginners build a strong foundation while enabling experienced students to deepen their expertise. Our engaging, youth-friendly approach empowers participants to develop confidence and succeed in both academic and professional settings.

Why BizWiz?

1
Teamwork
BizWiz fosters teamwork
by encouraging students to collaborate in small, unfamiliar, and diverse groups. Whether working on case challenges or participating in interactive activities for team points, students learn to value different perspectives and build essential interpersonal skills that extend beyond the classroom.
2
Leadership
BizWiz forms leaders
by giving students the chance to step up, take initiative, and guide their peers through real-world challenges. This could be in the form of leading a team during an activity or answering discussion questions. Participants will develop confidence, decision-making abilities, and a strong sense of responsibility.
3
Critical Thinking
BizWiz encourages
creative thinking
by challenging students to devise a range of solutions and explore various approaches to problem-solving. Through case-based scenarios and hands-on activities, participants learn to think outside the box, adapt to unfamiliar situations, and explore ideas that go beyond anything they have seen before.
The Youth Neighbourhood Small Grants (Y NSG) are funded through the Vancouver Foundation, and the program is administered by Kitsilano Neighbourhood House for the West Side community.

We acknowledge and honour the fact that the community now known as ‘the Westside’ of Vancouver lies on the traditional, ancestral, and unceded Coast Salish territory of the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh (SLAY WAH TOOTH) peoples.
Acknowledging territory shows recognition of and respect for Indigenous people – both past and present. Recognition and respect are essential elements of establishing healthy, reciprocal relations which are the key to reconciliation, a process to which Kitsilano Neighbourhood House and the Neighbourhood Small Grants program are committed to.
